How unprofessional this Doctor and his staff are so low his staff have been leaving negatives on my bussniess listing on google how low! This This doctor is good at using the system and will bill out for as many appointments as he can he will stall for years if give the choice, What to say about this Doctor! he's has the worst bedside manner ever! his English skills are low witch cause problems in him effectly communicating, he will not take the time to explain things clearly, he rushed us ever appointment. This Doctor is very dishonest, he will twist your words with you family and family doctor ! We where referred to him to get our sons anoide glans and Tubs done in his ears at a 8 months old after though test done by the hospital, the doctor Philatpho said that we should wait till till our son was 2 as his body may grow out of the problems as 80% of kids do. We followed up with Dr Philatpho at age of 2 at this time he wanted to get more hearing test done at the hospital so we agreed he's the doctor! went to the hospital to get the test done they said that our sin still need the Tubs and glans done, so here we go back to see Dr Philatpho he checks our sons ears again. By this time our son has a ear infection so Dr Philatpho orders more hearing test AGAIN. Here starta a 6 plus years of trying to get the need surgery done for our son! Dr Philatpho is great at using the system. after had enough l, I called him and his staff out that they where not making my son a proity do get my son in for sergry that they had no plans to get him in ! if anything Dr Philatpho has stalled over and over to continue to use and abusive the medical system here in bc! as he is the only ENT in Prince George! He has run a monopoly over ENT surgeries here! He is a plastic surgeron and this is his proity you can see it in how his office is set up and run. By all the reviews here and what we have experienced he does not care about people that are referred to him for ENT sergries! This Doctor called the cops on me and my family doctor when I stood up to him and called him on his bs and abuse of the system! I will make sure people know the truth and that we get a new ENT specialest in Prince George and that Dr Philatpho losses this title ENT SPECIALEST as he should! Shame on Dr Philatpho for his abuse of his power!

Local Otolaryngologist Physician

A local otolaryngologist physician is an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist. If you have a problem with your head or neck, your local family physician may refer you to an otolaryngologist physician. Some of the problems a local otolaryngologist physician may treat include ear infections, hearing loss, sleep apnea, migraines, facial abnormalities, allergies, sinusitis and unusual growths. Some patients may require ENT surgery for the head or neck, while others may need medication or lifestyle changes to treat their condition.

One of the conditions an otolaryngologist physician may treat is sinus infections. Healthy sinuses are filled with air. When the tissues lining the sinuses become swollen, inflamed, blocked and filled with fluid, a sinus infection can occur. Sinus infections are very common.

Types of Sinus Infections

There are four different types of sinusitis:

• Acute sinusitis. Symptoms are similar to cold symptoms, but can last 2-4 weeks.
• Subacute sinusitis. Lasts longer than acute sinusitis (4 to 12 weeks).
• Chronic sinusitis. Your symptoms last more than 12 weeks.
• Recurrent sinusitis. You get sinus infections several times a year.

Causes of sinusitis include:

• The common cold
• A deviated septum
• Smoking
• Medications that suppress the immune system
• Chemical irritation
• Nasal polyps (growths in the lining of the nose)
• Allergic rhinitis

Symptoms & Treatment of Sinus Infections

It’s important to see your primary healthcare provider if you think you might have sinusitis, especially because sinus infection symptoms can be similar to those of a cold. Chronic sinusitis symptoms include:

• Runny or stuffy nose
• Green nasal discharge
• Fever
• Facial tenderness or headache
• Cough

Sinusitis treatment depends on the type and severity of the sinus infection. If you have bacterial sinusitis, your physician will usually prescribe antibiotics. In many cases, your local family physician will recommend you use a decongestant, saline nasal washes and over-the-counter (OTC) medications. Sinus surgery is reserved for patients who have failed maximum medical management. Currently the gold standard for treating sinuses is computer-assisted sinus surgery - called functional sinus surgery or functional endoscopic sinus surgery.

The Canadian Otolaryngological Society, as it was know then, was founded by three doctors, George Hodge, William J. McNally and Jules Brahy. On February 15, 1978, the COS was incorporated and officially became know as the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, a name that better reflected the scope of the specialty.

Using a head frame, the surgeon can track his or her instruments on a three-dimensional CT scan in real-time, so they can see exactly where they are in the patient's head to an accuracy of less than one millimeter. Because the surgeon is working very close to the eyes, optic nerves, brain and pituitary gland, he or she will work in a box that is an inch and a half by an inch space, spending three or four hours cleaning out the areas, flushing the sinuses, getting the disease out and getting the drainage pathways open to restore function.
