Treatment of atopic dermatitis involves avoiding triggers that make the skin drier and itchier, such as perfumed soaps or exposure to wool. Patients with atopic dermatitis should use moisturizers twice daily. Good skin care is important to decrease the number of bacteria on the skin, and that includes a gentle washing, patting the skin dry, and then putting on the moisturizers to improve that barrier and seal the skin with Aesthetic Medicine

Dermatologists are medical professionals who specialize in diagnosing, preventing, and treating a wide range of skin, hair, and nail conditions. They undergo additional training specifically in dermatology to develop expertise in managing various skin conditions and diseases.

Here are some common skin conditions that dermatologists can diagnose and treat:

  1. Acne: Dermatologists can help manage acne, a condition characterized by pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and cysts/nodules. They may recommend topical or oral medications, lifestyle modifications, and skincare routines to improve acne symptoms.

  2. Dermatitis: Dermatitis refers to inflammation of the skin, often caused by allergens. Dermatologists can identify the triggers and provide treatment options to alleviate symptoms such as redness, itching, and blisters.

  3. Melanoma: Melanoma is a type of skin cancer that can be life-threatening if not detected and treated early. Dermatologists are skilled in identifying suspicious moles or skin lesions and performing biopsies if necessary. They can provide appropriate management and referral to an oncologist if melanoma is diagnosed.

  4. Psoriasis: Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune skin condition characterized by scaly, silvery skin patches. Dermatologists can prescribe medications, recommend lifestyle changes, and offer light therapy to manage psoriasis and reduce flare-ups.

  5. Psoriatic Arthritis: Dermatologists can also diagnose and manage psoriatic arthritis, a type of inflammatory arthritis that affects both the joints and the skin. They may collaborate with rheumatologists and other specialists to develop a comprehensive treatment plan.

  6. Warts: Dermatologists can effectively treat warts caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They may employ various methods such as cryotherapy (freezing), laser therapy, or topical medications to remove warts.

It's important to note that dermatologists are equipped to diagnose and treat more than 3,000 skin diseases and conditions, including those mentioned above as well as many others. They can provide comprehensive care and educate patients about their conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures.

If you experience symptoms of a skin condition or have concerns about your skin health, it is advisable to consult with a dermatologist. They can provide accurate diagnoses, personalized treatment plans, and guidance to improve your skin health and overall well-being.

Dr. Albrecht has two sides to him. One if you agree to do clinical trials and another if you don't i.e. One if you line his pockets and another if you don't. I have went to this doctor for a couple of years now and found him to be rude, ignorant and inattentive albeit I have put up with this funny, weird man in order to improve my condition. Today however was the final straw and once again he was abrupt and comes across with an air of superiority. I showed up ten minutes before my appointment and sat in the waiting room. When my appointment was due I was then directed to the doctors office/another waiting room where I sat for a further twenty minutes. He came in and asked me to sit up on the table/bed and then proceeded to ask me questions. I think when I told him my condition had increased in volume is when he became abrupt. I told him that patience was a virtue and he he persisted to be rude, I could play his game. I won't be back, this is a money making racket, nothing else. He likes telephone follow ups, a game now played by several B.C. doctors i.e. I'll call you to basically say hello and I'll charge the province for a visit. What a load of "Malarky". I wouldn't take my Boston Terrier to him so why would I continue to put up with this contentious p***k? I had waited six months to see this idiot with the firm belief he could help me, I should have known better.
