Dr Barber wasted no time to accurately diagnose my condition unlike many other doctors. He is good at what he does.

10 years later horrible things he's said are still living in my head. I was never really offered treatment or given a diagnoses, I just get shamed. Please don't go to this dr. Its so easy for others to say everyone's exaggerating exactly because he deals with the mentally ill. They must be the crazy ones right? No one will believe you. You will likely not get any help anyway.

The single worst interaction I've ever had with a medical "professional." His only interest is writing prescriptions. He dismisses every other form of therapy entirely. He made no attempt to help me find alternatives or other practitioners with different approaches. I came in with crippling anxiety attacks and his basic summation was "life is hard and they don't make a pill for that so there's nothing I can do." He has a complete lack of empathy, which while sadly common among doctors is a bit of a fatal flaw in a psychiatrist. After waiting over a year to get an appointment I left if more depressed than ever. You are literally better off doing nothing that seeing him, he has no interest in helping people, is really argumentative and will likely make you worse than before you saw him.

I can relate to all the comments already posted here. He is intelligent, but not interested in giving you tools, alternatives and resources to help make you mentally resilient. Not even a "help you help yourself" type. Just gutted after seeing him. But there are so few Psychaitrists here, we have no real choice in the Doctors here.

I also had the worst medical experience from any doctor. Felt extremely terrible after leaving his office. Made diagnosis after speaking to him for only an hour. Didn't make any suggestions to help me with my anxiety...just said to go on meds for the rest of my life. He told me that I sounded like I haven't been to university even though I have a degree. Don't go to this doctor. He has no empathy.

This was the worst experience I have ever encountered from any medical practioner on all the years I have been involved on in 20 years. He lacks insight, compssion & empathy. You better be prepared to accept and obey his commands or he will drop you like a rock. Clearly, this doctor should think of switching fields or retire.

Truly felt horrible after leaving his office. He was quick to diagnose with an untreatable condition. There was no reference to helpful tools (CBT, Talk Therapy, Medication, Reading Material) to understand or cope with the debilitating emotional paralysis I am experiencing. I am pragmatically contemplating suicide, and have experienced depression, abuse and suicide in my immediate family, yet he didn't consider me depressed. I am not sure what he is practicing, but it is not a healing profession, more a diagnostic for pharmaceutical companies. :/
